Curling

First Time Ever.
I can see getting good enough for the Olympics, by the time I'm fourty.
Curling was awesome.
I took photos for the Alberta Wheelchair Curling Championships.
It was great seeing people play in wheelchairs.
It makes me appreciate life just that little bit more.
We got some fun footage for the Solar Decathlon.

I've got mad sniffles.

216 was cool this morning.
I'm a bit of a geek for that class.
We made a signet ring and chain links.
I was bummed I had to miss the afternoon.
We were going to make the dragon illusions.

Damn. I need rest.
Sleep.

Conversational Development

Talking gets things out into the realm of physical existence.
Atmospheric fluctuations are a little more tangible than brainwaves.
Bouncing ideas back and forth, between people, allows them the chance to develop.

Raising the bar and getting an educational institution to take the next big step.
Huge!

Free movement of knowledge.
We must join together as a global community, to stop the building of arms.
Unless it's something like The Canada Arm.
That's cool.

Wasting resources and time on destruction is going to destroy the future.
We must cherish our children.

Learn and share your knowledge as freely as you can.
Push for the greater good and the benefit of others.

Itch and Pitch

My face is driving me nuts.
Less than two weeks till I can shave.
I look forward to the day.

Pitch time.
Great experience.
I really started to get my head around what I'm looking to communicate.
Distill.Distill.Distill
It's all about getting the pitch into a solid toss.
Practice with a group, or some people for feedback.
Feedback is great for learning.

I must admit, it's hard to pitch something that you're not sure about.
My approach was all wrong.
Next time will be better.

"Aunty Debbie, you should buy babies and raise your own slaves."
Class is funny sometimes.

Soundflower.PD.Live.Skype

Online, real-time, music conferencing.
Tomorrow we jam.

My patch is almost complete.
I need to tweak a couple things and make a couple connections.
I don't know enough and my vision is too big.
I'm reading boxes, clicking boxes, making boxes, and feeling boxed in.
I need a higher DOF.
The mouse button can't quite do what I'm looking for.
I did find HID in PD though.
More controls!

I'm stoked to see what I can do by the end of semester.

It's super focus time this week.
Tomorrow morning is:
Patch : Audio
Review/Write/Read/Plan/Write : Material Culture
Review/Write/Presentation Preparation : Video
Create : New Blog

Cellular?
Think about the word again and it gives the world an interesting skin.
Are we blood cells, keeping in chatter with one another?

Search Committee

What is the equivalent of a Master's Degree?
How do we short list applicants?
This is an exciting process to be a part of.
I feel that I will gain invaluable experience.
{laughs}
quantitative vs. qualitative
Survey says....
well articulated details.
Confidence is of the utmost importance in the process.

Philip Glass

A Rough Guide to Classical Music.
Signature.
Question.
Answer.
Inspiration.
A laid back, witty, modest man.
He knows he's done well, but handles himself humbly.

Perhaps I can pursue the opportunity I dream off.
A piece made with Glass.

On another note in the same rhythm.
I have to make sure to be humble and modest.
Work hard for the benefit of others.
Find tact and master it.
Be open to learn, as much as I can, in the frame of mind that I am learning for the first time.
Patience.
Responsibility.
Focus.
Success.

Went to two show receptions.
Documented one.
It was nice to see what people are making.
I was quite taken by a few pieces.
I envisioned the one set in a hallway of home.

Don't worry about finding your voice.

Studio Seminar and Meeting Minutes

Books and Discussion.
It looks like we're making some headway.
There are still some quiet folks, but there is more interaction.

We're going to create a book from the class.
The angle is yet to be determined.
I figure we should have all of our annotated bibliographies at the end.
Our final papers making the bulk sounds like a solid bit of information too.
We have a lot of thought and talent in the group and our practices are quite diverse;
it'll make for an edifying read.

MADT Card Meeting.
I've got the black nines.

Solar Decathlon.
Brainstorm session.
Solid collection of thoughts.
Meeting minutes and audio capture.
ACAD is starting to find its placement in the team.

History:Identity:Memory

Conversation meets capture.

What foundation can this discussion of self-direction support?

20 seconds.
6 people.
2 minutes.
The sum of exploring ourselves, together.
less 5 seconds.
15 instants of consequence.

I am excited to find what the cutting floor holds.

JWLM 216

Class starts and....

Pop Quiz.

Does my brain still work?

How do I even start this task?

Is this right?

next question.

click.click.click

{laughs inside}

Did I colour outside the lines?

Second glance shows to be reassuring.

Three looks later, I'm done.

After a lunch meeting and some grub....

Damn, my coffee cup looks funny.

I love this class.

Stay after class and make some expressive typography ring designs.

MADT 311

Feeling sick sucks.
The illness that clings for a month and more is brutal.
It takes away from the joys of class.
And on that note, I begin.
Imagine feeling ill all the time.

Starving sickness a.k.a malnutrition.

Imagine what that would do to the day's experience.
It is time that we all start valuing life a little bit more.

Value.

There's the village for clothes that deserve a second chance.
There's the drug mart that provides a plethora of acetaminophen.
There's the neon sticker that shouts it.
Everywhere you go, there's value.
Imaginary, in all ways possible.
Value, unless now a namesake, exists only in the realm of the conscious mind.
How do we approach such an elusive and debated thing, such as value?

"Debated?" you ask.

Anytime something is defined by itself, we seem to lose the sense of it.

MADT 316/416

It's storyboard time.
Narrative is essential.
It's all about the content meets context, turns food for thought.
History:Memory:Identity
Exploration through documentation of discussion.
We planned and brainstormed our approach.
Candid capture via free form filming.
A couple of room mics, a couple of shotgun mics, three or four cameras, and us.

e.p.
Time to get involved in the volunteering community.
Search and employ skills.

MADT 315/415

100 push ups in 100 days.
can you do 100 pushups in a row?
start with one on day one.
on day 50 you'll do 50 in a row.
and on day 100 you'll do 100 in a row.
now relate that to pure data and that's the same game plan.
today is day one.
laptop orchestra class.
for just one pushup, it was painful.
8 people clapping rhythms in a circle sounds better than we did.
homework, reflection, tutorials, and practice will hopefully do us some good.
